As Christians who believe that the Bible is the Word of God, we love to help our customers find the Bible that meets their needs. Whether it’s a child buying a first Bible (which happens regularly) or a family buying a Study Bible for their 100 year old mother (yes, this happened once) it’s exciting to be part of their story.

According to Guinness World Records, ‘there is little doubt that the Bible is the world’s best-selling and most widely distributed book. A survey by the Bible Society concluded that around 2.5 billion copies were printed between 1815 and 1975, but more recent estimates put the number at more than 5 billion. By the end of 1995, combined global sales of Today's English Version (Good News) New Testament and Bible (copyright for which is held by the Bible Societies) exceeded 17.75 million copies, and the whole Bible had been translated into 349 languages; 2123 languages have at least one book of the Bible in that language.’
We sell Bibles in a range of translations. Within the shop the most popular one is the New International Version, but outside it’s the Good News Bible. That’s because a number of lower and primary schools in the area order from us in the summer term, so that they can present the Rainbow GNB to children as a leaving gift.
Well we’re only one shop, but we like to think that we have made a small contribution to those figures. In our first year we sold 580 Bibles and in 2015 we sold 997 – we’d love to go over 1,000 in 2016! We offer special prices on bulk orders, so do contact us if you are interested.

Some of our Bibles have gone overseas – in 2014 two of our customers took 40 New King James Bibles out to Ikelenge Orphan Village in northern Zambia.

Helping people choose their first Bible is a special pleasure. If it’s for a child, we encourage parents to bring the child in – and children are usually quite clear as to which one they want! One thing we’ve discovered is that many people are coming to the Bible for the first time, but the choice can be overwhelming. For those customers, it’s a pleasure to find the Bible that is right for them and to give them some introductory Bible reading notes.
